STUDENT: Tatyana Shelest

Dear Members of the Hiring Committee,

I’m writing to express my interest in the Interior Design Associate Internship opportunity at The Decorators Club. As a second-year MFA Interior Design student at the New York School of Interior Design, I’m drawn to your mission of supporting women in design and creating a legacy of excellence in our industry. This internship represents an exciting opportunity to deepen my hands-on experience while contributing to meaningful design work.

My academic and professional background has prepared me well for this role. During my first year at NYSID, I balanced a full-time academic schedule while working full-time in construction data, a demanding experience that sharpened my organization, time management, and communication skills. I’ve developed fluency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Revit, and I’m confident navigating vendor coordination, product sourcing, and presentation prep.

What excites me most about this internship is the opportunity to support real project workflows, from preparing FF&E specifications and sourcing materials to assisting on site visits or installations. I value being part of collaborative, detail-driven teams and pride myself on staying calm under pressure and being a thoughtful communicator. I’m especially eager to learn from seasoned designers, and I’m comfortable taking initiative in day-to-day responsibilities like maintaining sample libraries, assembling presentation decks, or supporting client deliverables.

I’m truly excited about the chance to work with The Decorators Club and contribute to your long-standing tradition of mentorship and design advocacy. Thank you for considering my application. I’ve attached my resume and portfolio for your review, and I’d be grateful for the opportunity to speak further.

Warmly,
Tatyana Shelest
